Protein Supplements Whey

Question...

Whey protein supplements boast many benefits. Do they really work for people trying to build muscle?

I am 140 trying to bulk up and add about 10-15 pounds of muscle to me by the end of the summer. Should I consider protein supplements (whey, in particular)?

Yes, if you would like, you can use any kind of protein shake. Just make sure you are still eating a healthy diet, otherwise the protein will just go for energy, not muscle.

Tough question. Answer is yes, and no. They do help, but only if your workouts are tough. Eating more protein doesn't build muscle. You have to workout hard enough to tear muscle fiber, then eat enough protein so that it repairs stronger. Whey is one of the best, but it also causes more gas than any other kind. Eating protein that your body doesn't need only makes you gain fat. If you're tearing muscle fiber by working out hard, your body will emit HCG hormone while you sleep to make new muscle develop. Won't happen any other way. Douglas labs makes a supplement that is natural, sugar free and make with pea protein. It doesn't have a nasty side effect on your digestive system, and it doesn't contain artificial sweeteners.
